Bus Blog

The Bus Blog is an experiment I have been wanting to do for some time now. For the entire month of October, I will not drive a car and will see what challenges Little Rock faces in becoming a well connected city. Although it is called the Bus Blog, I will also be riding my bike and walking often, as well as exploring other alternatives of public transportation that Little Rock has to offer like the trolley, Amtrak and Greyhound. I hope to get a lot of comments and discssion going about how Little Rock can improve its public transportation to become an even better city. It should make for a very interesting October! Enjoy!

It was interesting. I have ridden busses in different parts of the U.S. and even some in Europe but I was pretty unfamiliar with our own system here.

You can check out my results entry but basically, you can save a ton of money by using CAT, but only if you give get rid of the car completely. However, it’s really difficult to rely only on CAT to get around town everyday because of the limited frequency, coverage and hours of operation. Until CAT gets more ridership and more funds, this will probably remain the norm. But CAT wont get more ridership and funds until the quality of service increases. It’s quite the conundrum!

    Hey Mason,

What were your thoughts on last October’s challenge to go car-less in Little Rock? Are you challenging yourself again this October?
